Simone Roxburgh (B.Nat)
Complementary Medicine Association member
Simone holds a Bachelor of Naturopathy and is qualified in Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, Iridology, Remedial Massage and acute Homeopathy. Simone is also a Reiki practitioner and Meditiation teacher and has a special interest in stress management as she has seen it present as a factor underlying many conditions in clinic. For instance sleep difficulties, IBS, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, chronic disease and many other conditions.
She first became interested in Natural medicine when she discovered the dramatic difference these therapies made to her own health. Coming from a marketing background, Simone felt inspired to learn more about the field Natural medicine in order to help others and has never looked back. She graduated with a high distinction average and undertook further training in Meditation facilitation through the highly regarded Dr Huzan Daver, author of "My True Reality: A Guide for inner awareness through Meditation". Simone has also completed the Gawler Foundation's Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation teaching course. The foundation has taught thousands of people how to meditate and has been a well respected pioneer in the field of meditation and mindfulness.
Simone has also completed the Relax Kids training course and provides children's relaxation classes that involve movement, games, massage, breathing, yoga stretches and visualisation/meditations. Meditation is a tool that Simone believes every child should have the opportunity to learn and knowing how to relax is a key skill that can help prevent future mental illness.
"The aspects I love most about Naturopathy are that it empowers individuals as it educates them on how to make life long changes that can prevent many chronic diseases, it is thorough, caring and respects the individuals right and role in their own healing" - Simone Roxburgh
Evidence based medicine is a priority for Simone and she is highly aware of potential interactions between pharmaceutical medicines and herbal medicine/nutrients and will ensure suitable options are prescribed. She keeps up to date with research in natural medicine and will utilise those herbal medicines and nutritional supplements with supporting evidence. The field of complementary medicine was once believed to be lacking sufficient evidence and this argument is no longer valid as substantial amounts of high quality clinical trials have been taking place. Simone continuously expands her knowledge through industry training seminars.
Simone regularly practices Qi Gong (Tai Chi), Yoga and Meditation. She also enjoys quality time with her family, a good belly laugh, spending time re-energising in nature, music and travel.
